The 2024 International Conference on Philippine Studies with the theme “Filipino-Chinese Histories and Discourses Through Multi-Disciplinary Lenses” hosted by Partido State University-College of Arts Humanities in partnership with Center for Philippine Studies, Jinan University, and Center for Partido Studies will be held on November 18-19, 2024 at Villa Caceres, Naga City.
This conference is a venue where educators, researchers, and practitioners from the academe, and public and private sectors can actively discuss and share their knowledge and experiences on Philippine studies particularly in history and Filipino-Chinese relations that evolved through the years. By bringing together scholars, policymakers, and industry leaders from diverse disciplines, the conference fosters a rich environment for exchanging ideas, research findings, and best practices. Participants will benefit from the opportunity to network with experts in the field, establish collaborations, and gain insights into the latest research trends. Moreover, the conference will provide a space to revisit the historical, cultural, economic, and political dimensions of Filipino-Chinese relations, leading to a deeper appreciation of the multifaceted nature of this partnership.
This conference will be conducted face-to-face.

The theme "Filipino-Chinese Histories and Discourses Through Multidisciplinary Lenses" explores the complex and intertwined narratives of Filipino and Chinese communities. This theme can be examined through various disciplines, including history, sociology, anthropology, literature, and cultural studies.This theme invites scholars and practitioners to engage with the rich, multifaceted histories and contemporary issues faced by Filipino-Chinese communities. By employing multidisciplinary lenses, it fosters a deeper understanding of identity, belonging, and the shared heritage that shapes the Filipino-Chinese experience.

Registration begins at 8:00 AM, November 18, 2024. Please arrive at the venue at least 10 minutes before the program starts. Appropriate attire (business/formal) is required for paper and poster presenters.
All participants are expected to attend the entire conference. Presenters must be in their assigned rooms 15 minutes before their scheduled session. Room assignments can be found in the program booklet.
Special awards will be given to the presentation with the highest cumulative score. The judges' decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Guidelines for Papers Presentations
The abstract is limited to 150-200 words. It must contain the research title, author(s) names, affiliations, and keywords.

Font size: 12 pt.
The Conference Committee will review and screen all submitted abstracts using double-blind review. A letter of acceptance will be sent to the Corresponding Author of the accepted abstracts.
The presentation will take place on the second day of the conference. There will be six (6) parallel sessions, with papers grouped according to their thematic relevance.
Each session will have an assigned Session Chair/Moderator and a Timer to ensure a smooth presentation flow. The thematic areas follow:
Family Dynamics and Intermarriage
Migration, Cultural Integration and Identity Formation
Culinary, Health, and Well-Being
Economic Contributions and Trade Relations
Linguistic Practices, Education, and Social Mobility
Environmental Adaptation and Sustainability Practices
If a paper has multiple authors, only one author is required to present and answer questions during the Q&A session.
Each presenter is allocated 30 minutes, with 15 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for the Q&A. If the presentation exceeds 15 minutes, the Timer will intervene and stop the presenter.
The Session Chair will introduce each presenter using the bionote submitted in the designated online session folder. The PowerPoint presentation uploaded in the online session folder will also be used.
However, to ensure a smooth presentation and to prepare for potential technical issues, presenters are advised to bring their laptops and a copy of their PowerPoint presentations.
The top three papers in each thematic area will be selected based on the following criteria:
Originality (30%)
Significance of Study (25%)
Soundness of Methodology (25%)
Clarity of Presentation (15%)
Over-all impact of the presentation (5%)
This totals to 100%.
Three experts will be assigned as judges for each parallel session. The session winners will be announced during the Plenary Session.
