Internationalization at Partido State University

Expanding Global Partnerships and Engagements

Strategic Partnerships

In 2025, Partido State University (ParSU) advanced its internationalization agenda through expanded linkages, active academic mobility, and strengthened research collaborations with institutions across Asia, the United States, and beyond. With 18 formal partnerships established and more in the pipeline (like for University of Cincinnati), ParSU engaged with leading universities and organizations in Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the United States, as well as global institutions such as SEAFDEC and WWF-Philippines. These partnerships opened opportunities for student and faculty mobility, joint research, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration across diverse fields including engineering, marine and environmental sciences, indigenous knowledge, hospitality and tourism, and biodiversity conservation.

Global Engagements

ParSU also hosted and co-sponsored significant international gatherings, such as the SEACARE Workshop on Collaborative and Integrative Climate Research, which convened experts from 16 global institutions and 18 Philippine organizations to address pressing issues of climate action and sustainability. Faculty and staff actively participated in international conferences, symposia, and benchmarking activities, while students joined academic exchange and specialized training abroad, notably in forestry and environmental science.

Attracting International Faculty and Experts

The University likewise welcomed distinguished visiting professors and experts, including Fulbright U.S. Scholar Dr. Rafe M. Brown (University of Kansas), Dr. Satoshi Kubota and Dr. Teruyuki Shinbo (Kochi University, Japan), and Dr. Bruce Jayne (University of Cincinnati, USA). These engagements fostered knowledge-sharing, research collaboration, and curriculum enrichment, while ParSU also celebrated the enrollment of its first international student in the BS Biology program.

International Faculty and Student Mobility

Partido State University (ParSU) continues to broaden its global engagement through active participation in international faculty, staff, and student mobility programs. In 2025, University representatives joined a series of conferences, workshops, benchmarking visits, and exchange activities that foster academic excellence, research innovation, and cross-cultural collaboration. Faculty and staff took part in significant events such as benchmarking in Japan under the TBTI Philippines Project Team, the Cotsen Plural Geographies Graduate Conference and Asia Pacific Museum Exchange Program in the United States, and a workshop on Indigenous Knowledge and Nature-based Solutions at National Chengchi University in Taiwan.

Meanwhile, student mobility was strengthened through the participation of forestry and environmental science delegates in the IX International Forestry Summer Course at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. These initiatives reflect ParSUโ€™s commitment to advancing internationalization, enhancing institutional capacity, and preparing globally competitive graduates.

Through these initiatives, Partido State University continues to position itself as a proactive partner in global higher education. Anchored on the values of quality instruction, impactful research, and meaningful extension, ParSUโ€™s internationalization efforts contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
