Natural Products Research Center

Established through BOR Resolution No. 83, S. 2023, the Natural Products Research Center is Partido State University’s hub for scientific discovery, technology innovation, and translational development of bioactive compounds from terrestrial and aquatic resources.

The center validates traditional medicine through evidence-based science to develop functional foods and health, wellness, and sustainable products that improve lives and livelihoods across the Bicol Region and beyond.

BIOASSAY & POTENTIAL DRUG SCREENING RESEARCH LABORATORY

Funded by Commission on Higher Education through the Institutional Development and Innovation Grants, the center’s attached laboratory aims to usher the conduct of further studies and research projects related to natural products, bioassays, and potential drug discovery.

Located at 2F Science Building of the College of Science, this research laboratory is the center’s main servicing facility.

   Qualitative Screening - Alcaloids, Flavonoids, Glycoside, Terpenoids, Saponins

   Quantitative Screening - Alkaloid Content, Total Phenolic Content, Total Flavonic Content, Saponic Content

3. Basic Analyses

   Moisture Content Analysis

4. Bioassays*

   Alpha-glucosidase inhibition

   Alpha-amylase inhibition

   Cholinesterase inhibition

   Xanthine oxidase inhibition
