ParSU Extension: Who we are

Serving as the link of the academe to the community to fulfill our mandate of promoting extension services suitable to the needs of the service area, our division manages extension project and programs of the university's seven campuses namely Goa, San Jose, Lagonoy, Tinambac, Salogon, Sangay and Caramoan.

For the past years, we have been addressing the needs of the service area, and reaching out to different sectors of the community including the fisherfolks and farmers, small entrepreneurs, the out-of-school youths, the differently abled, and senior citizens. .

Our past extension programs include: a marine protected area focused coastal resource management project in Atulayan island, Sagnay Camarines Sur; an ecotourism institutional development and capacity strengthening project in the Caramoan beachscape tourism area; a special education for the deaf and mute (SPED) Project; a community-based environment conservation radio advocacy project; a project for the capacity development of high school teachers and students in information technology; community health promotion; aquasilviculture and community mangrove rehabilitation projects; and generating Information and Education and communication (IEC) materials on relevant and development concerns to raise community awareness, inspire volunteerism, and advocate gender sensitivity and empowerment.

We enjoyed the full support and collaboration of our partners in the implementation of these extension projects. These partners include the Gawad Kalinga, the local government units, the national government agencies such as DSWD, BFAR, SUCs,LGUs and NGOS such as: Sparkasentiftung Bank fur international, Hansel and Gretel Foundation.

We continuously commit to deliver research-based and proactive extension services to bring the university closer to the community.

Vision

We envisioned a community that is self-reliant, equipped with productive skills, able to apply technology to increase productivity of livelihood, rationally utilizing their environmental and natural assets, and actively participating in community resources and rural development oriented decision-making process.

Mission

As an extension arm of the University, our extension division was born as an offshoot of the integration of independent higher education institutions spread in over 10 municipalities of the service area by virtue of Republic Act 9029 that created the Partido State University in 2001.

It is our mission to catalyze development and transform marginalized communities in our service area through capacity development, advocacy and participatory governance to make them socioecologically resilient, food secured and self-determined.

We nurture and uphold the core values of people empowerment, gender sensitivity, enabling access to opportunities, sustainable use of resources, and promotion of participatory governance as critical to the achievement of our preferred vision.

We are committed to

[1] Provide skills development to marginalized sectors of the community for employability and generation of livelihood;

[2] Introduce and enable the adoption of new technologies for improved productivity in agriculture, fisheries, and related endeavors;

[3] Increase the level of awareness of communities on environment and resource management, biodiversity conservation and disaster and risk reduction

[4] Mainstream the participation of communities in governance

[5] Initiate establishment of rural enterprise involving women

[6] Conduct community-initiated environmental restoration and rehabilitation
