The Partido State University (ParSU) College of Engineering and Computational Sciences (CEC) successfully concluded the evaluation conducted by the Technical Panel for Information Technology Education of the Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD) under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for its proposed Master of Information Technology (MIT) program, earning positive initial results.

In her opening remarks, CEC Dean Engr. Emelina Padayao emphasized that the College presented the MIT program with both humility and prideβ€”humility in recognizing opportunities for continuous improvement and pride in the collective dedication of university leaders, faculty, and stakeholders who collaboratively designed a program responsive to the evolving demands of the information technology field. She underscored that the evaluation served as a valuable platform to gain insights from the panel and to further align the program with national and global standards in graduate education.

CHED representative Alicia M. Nieto introduced the evaluation team composed of technical panel members Dr. Angie Canillo and Dr. Jaime Caro and Remedios Talingdan OPSD representative.

During the visit, the team assessed key areas, including program design and outcomes; curriculum structure and course descriptions; accreditation status; outcomes-based education requirements such as learning outcomes, curriculum mapping, and continuous quality Improvement mechanisms include leadership and faculty qualifications, research capacity and policies, library and learning resources, laboratory and ICT facilities; admission and retention policies, and higher education institution–industry partnerships. The team also conducted an onsite tour to verify facilities, equipment, library holdings, and other supporting evidence for the program.

Dr. Canillo and Dr. Caro commended the program's faculty, which align with CHED standards, while offering constructive recommendations for further enhancement. The University will address these within the next month, which marks a pivotal step toward formally granting the approval of the offering of MIT.Β Β

Vice President for Administration and Finance Prof. Charlie V. Balagtas highlighted the strategic importance of expanding graduate education in advancing innovation in the region. He noted that offering the MIT program will not only strengthen ParSU’s academic portfolio but also create fresh opportunities for learning, research, and technological advancement. He also cited initiatives such as the e-Sitio program, adopted by the local government of Goa, as examples of how technology-driven solutions can create meaningful community impact.

Meanwhile, the Vice President for Academic Affairs affirmed ParSU’s readiness to offer the program by citing key institutional milestones, including its Level III Institutional Accreditation, recognition as a CHED SIKAP provider institution, PRIME HRM Level II status, Level IV accreditation of the BSIT program, and the increasing number of faculty members with doctoral degrees. He also expressed its appreciation to the technical panel for their guidance and recommendations in further strengthening the proposed program.

The evaluation marks a critical step forward for the college, ParSU, and the wider community. For CEC, it strengthens its position as a hub for advanced IT education and innovation, enhancing faculty development, research productivity, and industry relevance.Β

For ParSU, the MIT program expands its graduate offerings, reinforces institutional credibility, and advances its mission of delivering globally competitive and standards-driven education. For the community, the program promises to produce highly skilled IT professionals who can drive digital transformation, support local industries, and contribute to regional development through technology-driven solutions.
