Partido State University (ParSU) is taking a strategic step toward expanding access to legal education by convening stakeholders for a consultation on the proposed establishment of the College of Law and the offering of the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at the College of Public Safety and Community Health (CPSCH) Lagonoy campus.

The consultation brought together representatives from the Philippine National Police, Department of Education, Regional Trial Court, local government units, and Goa Community College, among others, to gather their views on the proposed program and its potential contribution to Partido, while helping ParSU ensure that the program responds to the legal education needs and realities of the communities it will serve.

In his message, ParSU President Dr. Arnel B. Zarcedo emphasized that, beyond expanding academic offerings, establishing a College of Law at ParSU is a commitment to widening access to legal education and creating opportunities for the people of Partido and nearby communities. The consultation is presented as an important step in ensuring that the program genuinely responds to community needs and is supported by appropriate curriculum, faculty, facilities, partnerships, and resources. Ultimately, the initiative is envisioned as a way to transform lives, strengthen communities and governance, and improve access to justice.

"Every important undertaking begins with a shared belief that something worthwhile is possible," he concludes.ย

The consultation covered the proposed College of Law's legal bases, objectives, and rationale, as well as the J.D. curriculum, its relevance to legal practice, and the program's initial assessment of demand, accessibility, institutional readiness, partnerships, and sustainability.

Stakeholders also worked in groups to discuss priorities and recommendations on three areas: the program's relevance, demand, and accessibility; curriculum and community needs; and institutional readiness, partnerships, and sustainability.

Through the consultation, ParSU aims to make informed decisions and ensure that the proposed College of Law is academically sound and responsive to the needs of the communities it will serve.

By exploring the proposed College of Law, ParSU seeks to expand educational opportunities and enhance access to justice in the region.
