The College of Engineering and Computational Sciences of Partido State University (ParSU) successfully held a five-day Hybrid International Training-Workshop on Empowering 21st Century Educators and Researchers: Integrating Outcomes-Based Education (OBE), Mathematical Modeling, and Generative AI for Transformative Academic Practice from August 4 to 8, 2025.ย
The training-workshop featured prominent resource speakers, including Dr. Jaymar B. Soriano, Associate Professor from the Department of Computational Sciences at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, ย Dr. Nurzal Effiyana Binti Ghazali, Director of the Center for Engineering Education at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Dr. Vena Pearl Bongolan, Professor VII from the Department of Computational Sciences, UP Diliman, and Dr. Jomar Rabajante, Dean of the Graduate School and UP Scientist at the University of the Philippines, Los Baรฑos.ย
In addition to lectures and hands-on sessions, the workshop highlighted research presentations on key areas of interest. Prof. Nair of Sunway University, Malaysia, presented on Health Economics, Dr. Aldilas Nursetyo of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, discussed Dengue Surveillance and Epidemiology, Prof. Kingsley Badu from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, shared insights on the Mosquito Monitor project, and Prof. Paul R. Regonia of UP presented Generative AI applications for the Dengue Observatory.ย
Another workshop highlight was the presentation of the OBE Syllabus and the proposed OBE Framework of the university, which was reviewed by Dr. Ghazali, providing valuable direction for refining and aligning the framework with international standards to advance ParSU's academic reform initiatives.
Through these multifaceted sessions, participants were exposed to innovative tools and frameworks and reimagined their roles as educators and researchers.
Ultimately, this international engagement served as a strategic platform to strengthen the capabilities of educators and researchers in the 21st century by equipping them with future-ready strategies and tools grounded in outcomes-based education, data-driven research, and artificial intelligence, further solidifying ParSU's commitment to innovation, global competitiveness, and academic excellence.
