Partido State University (ParSU), through its Guidance and Counseling Unit, conducted โGuidance in Practice: Strengthening Guidance Services and Basic Counseling Skillsโ on September 15, 2026, at the University Library, bringing together personnel for a whole-day capacity-building session focused on guidance and counseling practices relevant to the needs of the University community.
Facilitated by Ms. Maria Korina P. Enriquez, RGC, RPm, Ms. April Jane S. Amata, RGC, RPm, and Ms. Arlyn Niรฑa O. Vistacion, RGC, the session covered the Universityโs guidance program and services, basic counseling, and suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention protocols. These areas provided participants with practical approaches to responding to students who may seek help for academic, personal, and other concerns.
The session also looked into the day-to-day demands of guidance workโlistening to students with care, responding appropriately to their concerns, recognizing when a situation requires further assistance, and providing support within appropriate professional boundaries.
The inclusion of suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention protocols was particularly relevant, as these require personnel to know how to respond when a studentโs situation calls for immediate attention and appropriate referral or intervention.
The activity also underscored that effective student support depends not only on the availability of guidance services but also on having personnel who are prepared to respond to students with competence, care, and professionalism.
The session concluded with an open forum where participants exchanged insights and raised concerns relevant to the practice of guidance and counseling in the ParSU setting.
At ParSU, supporting student success also means making sure that students know where to turn when they need helpโand that the people they turn to are equipped to respond.
