To strengthen the University's capacity to protect research-generated innovations and accelerate technology transfer, Partido State University (ParSU), through the Research and Publication Services Division's Technology Transfer and Patent Unit, conducted a three-day Training Workshop on Intellectual Property (IP) and Patent Drafting from August 5โ7, 2026, at the RDE Training Hall.ย
The initiative equipped faculty researchers and innovators with the knowledge and technical skills needed to secure intellectual property rights, enabling their research outputs to progress from innovation to protected technologies with greater potential for commercialization and public benefit.
Anchored on the provisions of Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, the workshop enhanced participants' understanding of intellectual property rights while developing their technical capacity to prepare patent applications and intellectual property documents for inventions, utility models, and industrial designs.ย
Leading the sessions were Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) specialists Engr. Eric C. Paden and Engr. Niรฑo Angelo Torre. Through lectures and hands-on workshops, they guided participants in navigating the patent application process and preparing the documentation required for intellectual property registration.
The initiative forms part of ParSU's continuing efforts to cultivate a culture of innovation and research excellence by ensuring that valuable knowledge generated within the University is protected, translated into usable technologies, and made accessible to communities, industries, and other stakeholders. By empowering researchers to safeguard their innovations, ParSU strengthens its role in driving regional development through research, technology transfer, and knowledge commercialization.
