PSU's School of Graduate Studies (SGS), in partnership with the Council of Deans for Graduate Education (CODGE), conducted the Education Research Conference 2018 last December 5, 2018 at the PSU Audio-Visual Room at Goa campus. The event's theme was "Research as a Core Element of Educational Practice," and aimed to provide opportunity to graduate students and faculty to present their thesis, dissertation or finished research to an interested audience. The plenary speakers were Dr. George M. Colorado, CESO III, Director IV of CHED ROV, and Dr. Raul G. Bradecina, SUC President III of PSU.
There were 8 researches presented in the Professiona Category and the panel of evaluators was composed of VP for Research, Extension & External Affairs Prof. Patricia M. Candelaria, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Josefina A. Borromeo, and Director of Center for Sustainable Communities Dr. Cristina P. Lim. There were 6 manuscripts presented in the Student Category and the panel of evaluators was composed of Arts and Sciences Professor Dr. Agnes Pesimo, Assistant Planning Director Prof. Charlie V. Balagtas, and Graduate School Dean Dr. Bernadette G. Gumba.
The Best Paper for Professional Category was awarded to Dr. Maria Teresa J. Manzano of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges for her paper entitled "Occupational Stressors of Faculty Members in CSPC." The Best Paper for Student Category was awarded to Mr. Darwin V. Pacis of San Jose National High School for his paper entitled "Critical Thinking Skills, Vocabulary Skills and Multiple Intelligences of SHS Students in Selected Schools in San Jose, Camarines Sur.
The Overall In-Charge was Dr. Maria Wendy M. Solomo, SGS Research Coordinator. She was assisted by the SGS faculty and staff, Ms. Marilou P. Barcela, Ms. Nora E. Bacares, Ms. Yumi Vivien V. De Luna, Mr. Jeric D. Perdon, Mr. Rico D. Saballegue and Mr. Jaymar Briones.
