As part of the Philippine celebration of the 500th year of the Magellan landing in the Philippines and the eventual circumnavigation of the world, Partido State University organized and sponsored an online conference titled: Beyond The Magellan History: An Online International Conference In Celebration Of The 500th Year Landing Of The Magellan Expedition In The Philippines" on Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2020 via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The activity was led by the Center for Partido Studies and Magellan-Elcano Studies Center headed by the Conference Convener himself, Dr. Danilo M. Gerona. In support were the Office of the University President, Museo de Isarog, University Extension Services, and the School of Graduate Studies. External partners were the National Quincentennial Commemorations, Philippine Embassy in Spain, Philippine Embassy in Portugal, Archivo General de Indias, and Sevilla Spain.

The event aimed to: (1) Establish an international platform for academic scholars, historians, faculty, and students where they can listen and discuss with world-renowned researchers and experts about a particular era in history, especially that of the Philippines; (2) Provide a venue for participants to interact with one another in a virtual environment and establish networks in the process; and (3) Serve as a major, concrete step in the university's commitment toward internationalization and promotion of research on history and culture.

The event brought together a powerhouse of well-renowned history scholars and respectable diplomats, namely: Consul General Adrian Elmer Cruz, Ambassador Celia Anna Feria, Dr. Miguel Rogrigues Lourenco, Fr. Dedert Duarte, Dr. Rolando Borrinaga, Dr. Felice Noelle Rodriguez, Dr. Antonio Sanchez De Mora, and PSU's very own Dr. Danilo Gerona.

The PSU working committee was led by Earl John Hernandez, who is likewise the Director of Museo de Isarog. Members were Liezel Atole, Michael Vale, Raymund Estrada, Rowell John Artiaga, Dr. Maria Wendy Solomo, Yumi Vivien De Luna, Kennedy Cuya, Maria Christina Gumba, Rico Saballegue, Jaymar Briones, and Karen Gerona. The NQC secretariat was composed of Ian Alfonso, Gerwill Cruz, Josef Alec Gerdilla. The Conference Manager was Dr. Bernadette Gumba, who is likewise the Dean of PSU Graduate School.
