In celebration of the ASEAN Month, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has lined up a series of activities nationwide--one of these was a webinar about the region’s policies and programs on security cooperation.

 

 

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) was invited by the CHED Regional Office V through the Council of Deans for Graduate Education (CODGE) in sponsoring the webinar entitled “Regional Security Cooperation Among ASEAN Countries: A Roundtable Discussion.” The online activity was held on September 8, 2020 via Facebook Live and YouTube, linked with CHED Regional Office V.

 

 

The webinar was hosted by Dr. Pamela Viñas, Education Supervisor II of CHED V while the roundtable discussion itself was moderated by Dr. Bernadette Gumba, Dean of Partido State University (PSU) Graduate School and President of CODGE.

 

 

The resource speakers were Dr. Alvin Sario of the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) – Legazpi, Mr. Darren Ramon Avestruz of the University of Nueva Caceres, and Dr. Federico Jose Lagdameo of Ateneo de Naga University. The panel of faculty reactors were composed of Dr. Adelfa Villaflor of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture and Dr. Armando Delfino of PSU. The student reactors were Danica Dane Dino of UST-Legazpi and Sydney Joseph Torrenueva of Bicol University.

The CHED V Regional Director Dr. Freddie Bernal delivered the welcome address while CHED V Chief Education Program Specialist Dr. Maria Teresa De Alban gave the closing remarks.
