Faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences attended and presented their research papers at the International Conference on Emerging Technology (ICET) 2019 organized by Hannam University in collaboration with the alumni of the university’s MS in Information Technology and PhD in the Information Technology programs, held on Nov. 13-15, 2019 at Hannam University, Daejeon City, South Korea.
Mr. Gary P. Dacillo and Mr. Leo Constantine Bello presented their respective research team’s papers during the conference. They were accompanied by Dr. Ronnel R. Atole, ParSU ICTMO Director, who served as one of the session chairs in the conference. Dr. Atole earned both his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Hannam University under the above-mentioned programs.
The conference commenced with the opening program in the afternoon of Nov. 13 wherein the Hannam University Student Club showed various cultural presentations, followed by the presentation of delegates by Dr. Gilbert Tumibay, Conference Chair of ICET 2019.
Dr. Keong Ryang Park, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Hannam University delivered a welcome address followed by the inspirational message of Dr. Carlito S. Puno, former Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and currently the President of MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy.
The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Jae-Kwang Lee, Chair of the Organizing Committee of ICET 2019 and a professor of the Department of Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, Hannam University. Plenary talks followed in the afternoon of the first day.
Mr. Dacillo’s presentation on “Braided Ribbon On-Based Assymetric Cryptosystem on Some Group-Theoretic Properties of Braided Ribbons and its Potential as Nonabelian Platform Groups of Public-Key Cryptography” was held during the second day under the Artificial Intelligence, NLP, Network, and Cloud Computing Session.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bello’s presentation on “Design and Development of Pili (Canarium Ovatum Engl.) Knowledge Base: A foundation for Application of Semantic Web” was held on the same day but under the Data Mining Session.
As per Dr. Tumibay, ICET is the result of their eagerness to reunite Hannam University graduates, professors and all personalities who participated in the project of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) to improve the quality of computing education in the Philippines.
